In the beginning of the school year faculty meetings, I'm always struck at how much time is spent on punitive things. Some teachers seem to delight in making kids suffer. I don't know who hurt y'all, and I'm sorry for your trauma, but you're passing it on. Chill.

I’m going to say it louder for the Principals in the back - there is no reason to do regular full faculty meetings during the year. No reason at all. Put it in an email. That simple.

Finishing up preservice week. No time to set up in rooms yet today. Had a motivational speaker who went off on the staff for not clapping enough when he asked us to clap. Says we don't buy in and shouldn't be teachers if we aren't going to go with the program.

Preservice week is coming to a close. Half the staff looks shell shocked and have either broken down in tears or look like they are about to. I've been home and awake with my family no more than 2 hours a day, and I feel no more ready for Monday than I was this Monday.

When you visit an elementary school that has 45 minutes of social studies scheduled every day for the full year, and they aren’t pretending social studies happens during the ELA block.

I always taught my APs this- 1st question to a parent calling me or them about a teacher or class incident: “Have you spoken to the teacher about this?” If the answer was no, we’d say, “I’m sending an email to the teacher to have them call you. Please call us back if you have

SocialStudiesTx It’s absolutely ridiculous to think that students can learn from teachers wearing jeans on Friday or after a teacher has paid to wear jeans but think students can’t learn from a teacher wearing jeans on a day they didn’t pay. Some admin are out of control with controlling.
