Do Coaches have favorites? 100%! YES THEY DO! They like the ones who show up on time, work hard, accept coaching, get it done in the classroom, work hard in practice, set the example & are athletes of high character. It’s easy to favor someone who does all the right things.

I am so tired of β€œcool.” I cannot deal with the attempt to be cool while playing. Give me the guys that like to get down and dirty, who are fundamental, and take pride in defense and rebounding. I want players who are coachable and love to compete. It is cool to be uncool!

If you only get to the gym when practice starts and leave immediately after it finishes, you don't understand what it takes to be great.

Lazy people do a little work and think they should be winning! -vs.- Winners work as hard as possible and still wonder if they are being lazy! Hard work > Lazy πŸ’― πŸŽ₯ Lewis Caralla

Biggest mistakes being made in youth basketball feeder programs today: 1. Zone defenses. 2. A bunch of ball screen offense. 3. Time wasted on cute OB sets. Some elaboration below based on what I'm currently witnessing that concerns me as a head coach.

Take responsibility for your effort. Take responsibility for your attitude. Take responsibility for your mindset. Take responsibility for your habits. Take responsibility for your emotions. Take responsibility for your leadership. Take responsibility. You control you.

HS Parents: Prior to complaining to your child’s coach about playing ask yourself 4 questions: 1 Does my child attend ALL practices? 2 Does my child spend xtra hrs on their game? 3 Has my child performed when given the chance? 4 Does my child want it as bad as I do?

Remember that you'll always play the same way you practice. Can't go through the motions at practice and expect to be great come game-day.
