We are saddened by the passing of Jeff Parker, MARTA CEO. Jeff was a true partner and friend to the BeltLine and committed to seeing world class transit in Atlanta. His wife and daughters are in our thoughts, along with his friends and MARTA colleagues.

Happy to announce that the government funding package includes federal investments to help complete the Atlanta BeltLine’s Southside Trail, which I promised last summer to prioritize. I’m eager to cast my vote for this package and see—and bike—the completed trail!

RIP to this ICON— Bill Russell was not only a 11 time NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, but he also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his steadfast work in civil rights. Before Michael Jordan, many considered Russell the greatest NBA player of all time. ΚΑΨ

Violent crime is down. These clear stats tell one story, but I also think about the families that don’t have to grieve and the reduction of trauma and pain that a reduction in violence brings. The devil has been busy, but God has been busy too — saving lives.

Today we honored and celebrated the retirement of Chancellor Emeritus Edward B. Fort. I can’t think of an individual who has made such a significant impact on A&T and #HigherEd as well has devoted his life to education and lifelong learning. He is indeed a trailblazer.
