At Prime Minister's Questions today, I asked if Government would setup a Commission for Palliative and End Of Life Care, so that everyone can access the very best support when terminally ill. I've also secured a meeting with Health Secretary or Minister, to discuss further. #PMQ

Straight talking, sensible commentary from David Oliver (also on Blue Sky) as usual. Believe it or not, most medical leaders are not in it for "gongs and glory" Some of us are in it to do the right thing by our patients and colleagues (and often take a pay cut to do so)

Been arguing this point for a long time. Risk scores developed in hospital settings do not translate well to #primarycare Yes, measure vital signs. But key element is overall assessment and interpretation by an experienced GP

When the system is under pressure, the focus is ever more on the hospital. We are not meeting people's needs in the community, especially for chronic disease management and care. Unless we address this (and GPs play a key part) we will never improve the situation we are in.
