Through partners IOM has established the first ever #sustainable #wastemanagement facility in #NorthWestSyria. IOM is planning to expand the facility to serve an additional 12 camps.

The recent escalation of hostilities in Syria has magnified humanitarian needs and newly displaced tens of thousands. Today, we dispatched 10 trucks of critical winter supplies from Gaziantep to Northwest Syria, adding to relief items we earlier prepositioned for distribution.

I am deeply concerned by the escalation of hostilities in #Syria and its impact on civilians. Through the cross-border operation from #Türkiye, IOM is working closely with partners to deliver critical supplies to the most vulnerable, especially amidst harsh winter conditions.

Almost 180,000 people have been newly displaced in #Syria's northwest, as winter conditions amplify their needs. We're working with our partners to distribute 15,000+ kits containing essential supplies, and we reiterate the need for immediate support to save people's lives.

I was in Idleb, north-west #Syria, with UN Humanitarian UNICEF UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency World Health Organization (WHO) to assess the situation one week following the escalation of hostilities. The level of suffering is harrowing. All parties must protect civilians, hospitals, schools and other civilian objects without fail.

The 🇪🇺🇹🇷 relationship is important. Our economic relationship is growing stronger every year. And Türkiye remain a key partner on migration. An extra €1 billion for 2024 is on its way to support Türkiye’s efforts to host Syrian refugees.

In Northwest Syria, needs have risen for displaced people. Facing the winter, Mohammed received critical household items. "I used to rely on relatives or neighbors for furniture and blankets.” With muzunMHD & 🇩🇪 GER on Peace & Humanitarian Action, we're working to assist the most vulnerable.
