After a trying week, I took the day to disconnect and just be at the beach. I got to paddle board and read Schelling alongside some of my favorite people. I know what challenges lie ahead and, yet, taking this day back for myself makes me feel ready for what comes next.

I agreed to babysit five kids today, ages 11, 10, 4, 3, and 2. Facilitating toy sharing negotiations between the littles is about as difficult as facilitating video game choices between the older two. At least the youngest agreed to nap time.

I was finishing an email at the end of the day and I caught myself replacing the "!" with a boring "." I convinced myself to put it back and hit send. Such odd, self-imposed societal pressures. Anyway, that's a wrap for Monday.

Had an assignment to identify the top 7 - 10 articles related to a research topic I had chosen. I struggled quite a bit deciding what was most important. The final list I came up with had very few women or BIPOC represented. I want to do better. All suggestions welcome.

After 6+ hours and my own peeking at VB code (is that what it's called?) my sweet husband managed to put together a program to collect the data I need for a paper I'm working on. Data I couldn't have reasonably collected on my own too. Kudos and appreciation all around.
