I have to say that I will end my days without reaching the level of wealth required by a farm owning couple in the UK to meet the threshold for inheritance tax. The same is for almost everyone I know.

This is not a farmers tax. This is not a tractor tax. This is a tax on estates only worth over £2,000,000 paying 20% on that asset (only over 2mil). There is a reason Jeremy Clarkson called his farm diddly squatt. It's the tax he intends to pay.

Tesco made £2.9bn operating profit for the 2024/25 financial year. The employers NI increase will cost them £250 million per year leaving them with a paltry £2.65bn profit! Yet they complain to the treasury — Who should pay a bit more to keep your work force healthy Tesco?

Please spare a thought for James Dyson, the Brexit-voting billionaire who bought up 33,000 acres of farmland to avoid tax. Without people like him, farmland would be more affordable for actual farmers.
