Those of us who worked in Sure Start could see the difference it was making. Part of the success was highly qualified and experienced professionals working together for the benefit of children and families. This is not the same as ‘free childcare places’. My brother Mohammed survived #GazaGenocide !
'Baba habibi,' my 5-yr-old niece's voice hugging & comforting her dad after 35 days of separation killed me. Moh was in a tent in Rafah alone, hungry, cold with 💣 & smell of death all around. The psychological terror is unforgivable.
Three posts in one day after an X hiatus. Please consider coming to the Sheffield Literacies and Language Conference on June 14th and 15th in Sheffield. Keynote speakers are: kris gutierrez #equitybydesign, Navan Govender, Ian Cushing, and Julia Snell. Here is the link: sheffield.ac.uk/education/rese…
Thank you Declan Dowkes👨🏻🏫📚 for inviting me to speak at the Education @ HudUni Undergraduate Framework Conference, it was a pleasure to meet you all and the workshop was excellent
Meanwhile... #WorldBookDay in the refugee camps of #Gaza & the world will be celebrated only thanks to the heroism of those storytellers who have survived.
And managed to keep to keep their books & stories in tact.
God bless every one of them.

We just invaded the Houses of Parliament, singing loud and clear: #StopRosebank ! No new oil and gas drilling in the North Sea! The Rosebank oil and gas licenses will cause an extra 200m tons of CO2 emissions, while doing nothing to lower our energy bills #GreenEnergyisCheapEnergy

Transcripts of the oral evidence presented to the first hearing of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities Inquiry into Children Young People and the Built Environment are now available to read. So much expert testimony about the importance of meeting children's needs for play and independent mobility!
Good luck to our Co-Founders/Co-Directors Alice Ferguson and Ingrid Skeels, representing children's voices at the Select Committee hearing on Children, young people and the built environment this morning - watch the session here: committees.parliament.uk/event/20408/fo…
Excited for Christina Tatham and Laura Cleton talking about illegalised migrant and asylum-seeking children - an important and timely discussion, organised with Patrícia Martuscelli and the Migration Research Group. Sign up here, and online link for hybrid attendance to follow!
Our PM should be 'standing up' for children, not motorists! Children's health is in a dire state. They are killed and injured every day on the roads. Unsafe streets = inactive, unhappy, isolated kids. This should be the focus. #SafeStreetsNow
