Buffalo Soldiers in Hawaii for vacation in 1913? Not quite. Read about the 25th infantry & what they were doing on the island at that time. Hint: it had something do with roads and trails...and lava! Visit Hawaii Volcanoes NPS website at go.nps.gov/HAVObuso for the amazing story.
Check out this special photo gallery from a very special day for twenty new #American #citizens. CharlesYoungNPS hosted its 3rd #naturalization ceremony on Sept. 9th, 2021. Thanks to all who attended and congrats to all of #America's newest citizens! go.nps.gov/CHYOnat#3

Col. Charles Young lived a remarkable life. Born in Kentucky to enslaved parents in 1864, he graduated from West Point and became the highest-ranking Black officer in the military. I’m proud to have supported his posthumous promotion to Brigadier General in honor of his service.
Thank you Governor Andy Beshear for your work to ensure Colonel Young receives the recognition he deserves. If folks have a minute today, I encourage you to read about the Colonel’s service to our nation: nps.gov/chyo/learn/his…
