I learned cursive. And I have a hard time READING cursive when grading in class writing. (Except for the Catholic school kids. Their cursive is immaculate. I can tell right away they were Catholic school kids.) But yeah, it’s an antiquated exercise. Spend time elsewhere.

And while I’m here, because I’m feeling feisty: Yes, students often encode better when handwriting. But the laptop-vs-handwriting research compares lectures, mostly. In real classes, my students use their laptops for things far beyond note-taking. It’s way more complicated.

Two rejections for two different things on the day before Thanksgiving, here stateside. Thanks for the news dump. Honestly if you’re rejecting me on the day before Thanksgiving, I’m happy I’m not going to be a part of your thing. Bad look for you and your group. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Celebrating Small Business Saturday by taking the middle child to the doctor, because he is hell on wheels and got a nasty splinter in his leg while trouncing through the fields. I love my kids.

“I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little or make a poem which children will speak for you when you're dead.” RIP Tom Stoppard

Procuring a llama for this year’s Christmas card. (We have a llama farm 1/8 of a mile away—so this isn’t THAT radical.)
