It makes me sad when a teacher assistant says “I’m just a para” when they introduce themselves to me…we CANNOT do our jobs without support staff. They are the backbones of our schools. No one is “just” anything on your staff. Make sure your support staff feel encouraged & loved.

This sentiment isn't just important since the covid pandemic, it was just as important before, but we somehow had forgotten that effective education is relational

Every corner on any street or path brings about a hidden abundance of choices. How we react to this shows us who we truly are. ❤️

Some students who act out lack a sense of belonging in school. We must focus on including all students and classroom community. 🙌

There are so many factors to consider when deciding which strategies best suit different ELL students. Here are a few important student factors to keep in mind. What others would you include?

We don't tend to think of science, math, social studies, music, and every other subject as teaching language, but that is a big part of what's happening. That's why the same strategies that work for English learners also profoundly benefit native speakers.
