One of our members in Athlone is being evicted at 1pm tomorrow. If anyone in the area can help out, please let us know so we can mobilise and block the eviction!

A disabled refugee is being evicted from the Athlone accommodation centre. He has been offered accommodation in Horseleap, but due to a history of trauma stemming from torture and political imprisonment, he is terrified of the prospect of living in a shared space.

This person has PTSD, depression and anxiety. He says he would rather sleep on the streets than share with other people, showing just how terrified he is of the prospect. It's unreasonable to move him like this in these circumstances.

We stand behind our member and will take a stand against his eviction on Wednesday. Please join us in Athlone if you are willing to help ✊🏼

Our member, who has a disability, has this morning been threatened with being physically removed from his accommodation. This is outrageous and scandalous.
