Experiences of care in advanced liver disease

Cathy Beresford, a nurse and PhD researcher at Bournemouth University, is currently conducting an important research study exploring care experiences of individuals affected by advanced liver disease.

1 in 4 children with obesity are estimated to have fatty liver disease, which increases the risk of premature death.

The Labour Party will ensure all children get a healthy start to life, with free primary school breakfast clubs serving healthy food & an active & balanced curriculum.

An important report published yesterday

Over 17,000 people die of liver disease and liver cancer each year, at a huge cost to the NHS and the economy.

It's an avoidable epidemic that is driven by obesity, alcohol, and viral hepatitis. 90% of liver disease is preventable and if diagnosed early, damage can be reversed.

Female nurses have the highest suicide risk of any healthcare professional.

Nursing is a low resource, high demand profession with poor pay, conditions and respect.

Female nurses are also more likely to suffer domestic violence at home & sexual harassment at work.

Having experienced an alcohol-related bereavement, I am exploring women’s alcohol use & how nutrition may be used to support recovery. We are currently investigating women’s health behaviours & nutrition knowledge via this survey:

Well, who would have thought? Children who lived near Sure Start Centres before starting school did much better 11 years later at GCSE (especially those from low income families).
They worked and helped the poorest. So naturally the Tories trashed them.
