Thank you Kim Pate for explaining that not everyone has the wealth to access the supports they need in the first place in this country, making poverty a huge issue and adding to the #BillC7 ableist, racist, sexist discriminations

Disabled people are familiar with grief. With injustice. Where we normally grieve individually, isolated and alone, today we grieve as a community collectively together. Our tears will water the future. Our rage will upend and burn ableism to the ground. We will emerge.

My point is the NDP voted in favour of a bill and they, like most of Canada, don't even understand the implications of the bill or what it means to be disabled. They assumed chronic illness is something 'different.' This is the harmful legacy of hierarchy, of ableism...

Right now I imagine those law makers in support of Bill C-7 are cautiously congratulating themselves, reassuring each other they did the right thing while saying, "Its not perfect but any problems can be fixed in the future." I'm no expert, but last I heard, you can't fix dead.

To all the Senators and vocal supporters of #BillC7, we ask you to #CheckYourPrivilege and remember the voices of the most marginalized amongst our community who will be most effected if this bill is passed. #KillBillC7

2/2 so when we are reassured MAID. Will be carefully tracked and regulated it is hollow rhetoric to con cdns into thinking everything is ok. We have a pathetic record in tracking pwd health outcomes generally - how will that change with MAID - this will indeed be a quiet eugenics

From my letter to MPs: "It is not possible to imagine that assisted suicide enabled by Bill C7 will be the one and only health care practice that somehow escapes systemic inequity in its implementation."

My goodness Justin Trudeau Min of Justice/Attorney General of Canada Patty Hajdu Carla Qualtrough Jagmeet Singh Do you have a comment for The Washington Post? It appears treatment of disabled citizens may tarnish your global reputation as second-generation architect of a β€œJust Society”. #KillBillC7 #cdnpoli

Catherine Frazee People forget (or don't know about) Cda's eugenic past. It wasn't that long ago and there are people who still hold those views. Unfortunately, it seems some of those folks are in gov't.

Laurie Larson Catherine Frazee Mclarens book is excellent and still relevant. University college London just voted to remove Galton and Pearson’s (Galtons partner) names from 3 bldgs- maybe the senate or HOC can get a good deal on some used statues

"The HoC has already spoken on Bill C-7 we've already decided on what we want to do...this is not the time and place to go over old arguments that were already dealt with by the house" Oh, sorry. How did we land on eliminating poverty, homelessness and access to services for PWD?

A very fine tutorial on "Colonial Governance 101" from @SarahJama – featuring #BillC7 as a case study. Great thread Sarah! #KillBillC7
