Sir Keir Starmer told @channel4news that transport accessibility for disabled people should be a ‘basic requirement’. It comes after former Paralympian Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson says she had to crawl off a train at King’s Cross station because no staff were there to help her.

Transport accessibility is a large-scale problem. Our evidence shows that disabled people make 38% fewer journeys. Changing this will take collaboration from many, including Government, transport providers, disabled people's organisations, and most importantly, disabled people.

We're proud to have funded this important research project exploring how disabled people should be represented as places transform mobility. It's so important that the needs of disabled people are considered as part of future transport planning.
