Seeing a lot of writers express fear in querying/publishing right now. I can sympathize—writing is inherently vulnerable and bad actors exist.

But remember algorithms promote controversy/conflict. Great, happy, magical things happen in publishing daily.

The most profitable entertainment companies who regularly report record profits in books, movies, television, and video games all keep laying off the people who ACTUALLY MAKE THE THINGS and I feel like I’m losing my mind.

Why are book and film/tv marketing so different?

Books focus so much on character age and I wonder if these manmade boxes/categories still make sense.

The skipping prologues chat has me laughing but I might have you beat in terms of sinful reading behavior.

My dad reads the ENDING of books first to decide if it’s worth sinking time into.

I send queries out pretty slowly and I hope that isn’t a bad thing. I like to take my time with researching each agent, but it might be worth getting a query into more hands at once.
