🧵Thread: From Cape Arid to the Coronation 🦜 Today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that the Australian Goverment will make a national contribution to WA charity, Friends of the Western Ground Parrot (Friends of the Western Ground Parrot).

This will be our gift on behalf of the Australian people to King Charles III to mark his Coronation. This will provide national and international attention to the conservation of the Western Ground Parrot. Known as Kyloring in Noongar, the parrot is critically-endangered.

There is estimated to only be around 150 birds left. They are found in Cape Arid National Park and Nuytsland Nature Reserve, east of Esperance.
