What is extra depressing about current politics in Germany, and recently in Sweden, is that these politicians could have looked across the border (Netherlands and Denmark, respectively) to see that it doesn’t even work!

#AfD is probably best described as “far right” and, if anything, more “extreme right” than “radical right”. Using “populist” or “right-wing populist” is problematic, as it is insufficient at best and euphemistic at worst.
