Awful statistics but not surprising when around 30% of domestic abuse escalates during pregnancy. Having a baby together is not going to make the abuse stop, make the abuser happier or protect you. It just ties you to them & puts another vulnerable human in the abusers path.

Couldn’t agree more.. the child’s rights should always be paramount.

Too many women are unable to access legal help to protect them & housing to help them leave. Too many are forced to continue living with their abuser whilst separating- this is like waiting for a bomb to go off. Urgent change is needed b4 more lives are lost. Jess Phillips

This is a very accurate description of post-separation economic abuse- I hear about all of these behaviours regularly from clients being actively blocked, coerced and controlled financially.

Such an important issue- separation doesn’t stop abuse. This goes on for years and it’s exhausting. You can’t heal effectively while you’re having to deal with daily abuse and see/hear your abuser.

This is great news- at long last victims might finally be in with a chance of getting an appropriate response from police now. Thank you Jess Phillips for taking action when we have been waiting years for these measures to be brought in.

So frustratingly sad that very little has changed in Family Court since this happened. 😢 We need change urgently.
