We offer something quite unique at The Big Fandango but it isn't always without it's challenges . Our latest blog explores some of the work we do empowering women and teenagers by keeping traditional crafts alive Caroline Aldridge Jude Sarah Fitchett thebigfandango.com/news/creating-…

The work of The Big Fandango is inspirational. All the issues in the blog I can relate to. We don’t value woman’s work (sewing/craft skills or emotional labour involved in supporting people). Funders get great value out of grass roots organisations but often favour large ones.

My heart goes out to Ty’s family. NSFT mental health stalling tactics are longstanding ploy that adds harm to families already harmed and traumatised. I am convinced this is deliberate because the trust know exactly what the impact is. edp24.co.uk/news/24506018.…

Interesting that one of the first things NorfolkSuffolkCrisis called for years ago, was the reintroduction of Assertive Outreach community mental health teams. This thread is worth a read

New national suicide figures are published today in a series of reports. Headline message from Office for National Statistics (ONS) is a rise in 2023, the highest rate since 1999. But, taken together, the reports tell a more complex story. Short 🧵

Next Monday, a statutory public inquiry will open into the deaths of mental health inpatients in Essex. Without the courage, persistence and determination of bereaved families and survivors campaigning - the inquiry would not be happening. bit.ly/4dOzQKb

The despicable way 🌹ESSEX MENTAL HEALTH LAMPARD INQUIRY🌹 has been treated is replicated across mental health trusts. As bereaved mother trying to flag up concerns I have encountered the same false appreciation/gaslighting while they work out how to shut me up. It’s cruel. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/09/0…

For bereaved people, harmed by the cover ups and gaslighting of a system set on protecting itself, an anti-dote is required. Remembering Together #RainbowsOfHope offers solace and solidarity and positivity through crafting together.

The known numbers are higher in Norfolk/Suffolk and NSFT mental health but had lost count. I do not believe for one minute that trust’s retrospective review identified all their deaths. Their raw data was too incomplete:shoddy/chaotic. We will never know on Norfolk/Suffolk either.

This has happened so many times with crisis service at NSFT mental health. Inquest after inquest but never any learning and improvement. So many precious lives needlessly lost. Shameful. My heart goes out to all those left behind.
