DID YOU KNOW? White spotted sawyer beetles, which are native to Canada, are often confused with invasive Asian longhorned beetles. While they are similar in appearance, there are key differences between the two. Learn more about Asian longhorned beetles: bit.ly/3pMNHYe

Bang on. Unfortunately, due to years of bad decisions, we're going to have to start making things right at a time when fewer of us can afford it. #ottpoli

The EnviroCentre will be at the Rideau River pedestrian and cycling bridge tomorrow, 9:15-10:45am, as part of the City of Ottawa’s Cycling Safety Awareness Program. This outreach helps spread the message of available resources and best practices when using active transportation.

A red mustang has been tearing up Uplands and Hunt Club for the last 6 nights after 9pm. If anyone can safely acquire a license plate number, I would appreciate it and will forward to the OPS.

It wasn't a joke. It was cruel. The poor girl was obviously nervous as all get out but 17 years after it happened, he drags that all that back for her. Vance is the human embodiment of that combination of gum, dogshit, & spit that accumulates on the heel of one's shoe.

Although it's gorgeous, this moth feeds on about 70 species of plants and trees. They can attack en masse, like spongy moths, and quickly defoliate trees. Trees may not die, but it's one more stress they don't need.

#DYK that a tree's rings reveal more than its age? The width of a ring can tell you the weather conditions during each year of the tree's life. The ring colour represents what season the wood grew, and scarring can show the occurrence of natural disasters. #ForestFactFriday

More people need to report this kind of shoddy "maintenance" to councilors. We have dealt with this for years; we get lousy answers and no change. Would love to figure out how much we spend on mowing annually. Could likely cut it in half. Line by line indeed.

Is the Mayor daring us to skip next year's payments? What *exactly* would the city do other than stop picking up the trash and potentially shutting the water off? Will strong-armed bylaw officers come to the door?

Besides being directly toxic to the mammals that ingest them, including dogs, cats, and humans, many rodenticides present a secondary poisoning risk to animals

The city is mowing the crap out of everything. Many native species of wildflowers, like goldenrods and asters, are still flowering, providing much-needed nutrition to migrating and over-wintering species. The city is robbing wildlife of some of its last & best meals.

At risk and endangered species live among us, right here in Ottawa. This is the least you can do. When you're done with the least, start figuring out how to do the most. #HappyLabourDay
