#COP28 is over. 

We’ll be honest: COP28 was a mixed bag. There are pieces worth celebrating, thanks to the exhaustive work of small island countries & other climate champions — but it’s far from the ambition we need.

After that very odd ending to #COP28 (lol), some thoughts on the future of UNFCCC, the role of civil society and climate negotiations in general. These won't be on what we landed on directly, you can get that elsewhere and better too.

Activists are lining the path to the negotiating rooms at #COP28 as talks stretch into the night.

The latest draft text is wholly unacceptable in failing to #EndFossilFuels .

We’re calling on our leaders to #HoldTheLine + push for the fossil fuel phaseout we deserve.

I guess they tried a choose your own adventure approach with the latest #GST text at #COP28 but it ended up being more like a KSA chooses everyone's adventure thing.

The new text refers to 'emissions reductions' instead of a fossil fuels phase out.

And that's a problem. #FossilFuels are the root cause of emissions, and the reason we've experienced escalating climate impacts.
