The UK Gov is dishonestly framing action to stop burning fossil fuels as a cost to ‘hard-pressed families’.

The truth is it’s an investment: not just to avoid a far higher cost, but actually to lower overall costs.

It’s for Gov to fund the majority of that investment for the

Every few years, I search for this 2019 clip of Blair again. The bluntness of his ‚power is power!‘ doesn‘t only apply to geopolitics, but equally to energy policy & the delayed energy transition. Raw power. No longer a lack of technologies or knowledge.

The Climate Damages Tax report calculates that an additional tax on fossil fuel majors based in the wealthiest OECD countries could raise $720bn (£580bn) by the end of the decade, helping poorer, climate-vulnerable countries cope with the climate crisis. theguardian.com/environment/20…

It's weird how accustomed to this sort of thing we are. Sunak's exasperation here comes from a flat presumption that other people have simply no right to know when there's going to be an election or a tax rise and it's inherently petty and annoying of them to want to find out.

Hi again Stefan. This private company now has 2 separate websites, 3 trading names, a spokesperson at a Dubai-funded thinktank, and lots of paid advertising. All trained on 1 UK charity. That’s what’s worrying. But our members remain a fantastic bunch, and I remain unscared.

I’m looking forward to voting for the 1st time in the UK this Thurs & particularly looking forward to voting for Sadiq Khan who has been an excellent Mayor. Whether or not you agree, the Tory candidate holds dangerous positions, so please consider joining me in supporting Sadiq.

An old guy explains why it would be neat if our planet decided to rely on the sun for its power, thus cleaning the air, disempowering oligarchs, and blunting some of the climate damage.
Also, almost everyone likes solar power, so that's good

A nice demonstration of two things:

1) De-funding the police is bad, actually, and results in more crime, disproportionately harming the poor.

2) Short-term cost-saving exercises often end up resulting in negative impacts that cost far more to fix than they initially saved.

It’s normal for species diversity & populations to fluctuate, but due to global heating & habitat loss, the rate of extinction is 100-1,000x faster than expected. It’s brilliant that conservation works, but alongside climate action, more funding is needed. bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…

Brilliant idea from Esther Duflo👇
Raise $500bn a year for poorer countries most affected by climate change by:
✅ lifting 🌍 minimum corporation tax rate from 15-18%
✅ levy a 2% annual tax on the wealth of the 3,000 richest billionaires

Sure, ambitious, but there’s also strong
