Good morning Twitter! I’m Oscar Giles, a Research Software Engineer 🖥️ in the Research Engineering Group REG @ Turing (active on BlueSky and Mastodon) at The Alan Turing Institute. Today I’ve got the keys 🗝️to our account to tell you about my job at Turing.

Discovering the profession of Research Software Engineering was a revelation!🎉 I could focus on the aspects of research that I loved 😍and contribute to projects spanning numerous fields👨‍🔬. While I still contribute to articles, no one worries where my 4* first author paper is.

I like to call this "the new idea problem":

Readers of my book will know the globe tossing example in the early chapters that I use to introduce bayesian updating. I have now fully virtualized it.
