When I volunteered to slush read for Sanitarium Magazine (an extremely small press at the time), the very first thing I had to do was agree to not send work in for consideration because it was a conflict of interest. If the little guys can get this right, the big pubs should too.

For whatever it's worth, I want to voice my support for Aquino Loayza: Spectrum Jabroni & lor, high Goopress of horror🪱👑 for their work on Spectrum & Third Estate Books. I hope all involved will continue to trust that they both want nothing but the best for their collaborators with Spectrum & all future projects.

As mind-blowing as this week has been - the silver lining I choose to see is that all these things coming to light means we're doing right as a community, and people know they will be believed and supported. There will always be 💩 people, but we are growing and doing right 💜🔥

Not about one specific person, but EVERY TIME a man tells me to work on 'forgiving' another man who has done something very awful to me or someone I know, it makes me wonder what that guy has in his closet that he hopes will be forgiven if it comes to light later.

Gentle reminder that you don’t have to forgive abusers. You don’t have to give space to abusers. You don’t have to platform, advocate for, or support abusers.

But you should learn the difference between keeping digital spaces safe and “cult” behaviour.

If you know me, then you know how seriously I take encouraging budding authors in the community. It breaks my heart to know Mattie was lied to about her work and made to feel like she should give up on her craft. I applaud her bravery through all of this 🖤🖤🖤
