Last week 2G commemorated Remembrance Day by researching what the day is for and what we do to remember and honour those who have died at war. We finished the day with a visit to the Charles Riley RSL War Memorial, giving us the opportunity to reflect on how the day made us feel.

2G began getting in the spirit of Christmas today by writing cards to the residents of Mount La Verna Retirement Village. The children loved addressing letters to their ‘friends’ and writing messages of well wishes for the Christmas season. #lifetothefull Our Lady of Grace School-North Beach

2G loved hearing the Nativity Story from the perspective of 1G! It was a great starting point for the year twos, who then acted it out and wrote about it themselves 😊

What a fantastic mathematical problem solving session! Students were engrossed and engaged as they worked together in teams to solve an open ended #maths task. 2W loved using the new whiteboards courtesy of ScitechWA as part of the Lighthouse Maths program.

The Year 5s loved looking at solutions for a more sustainable future! Students were able to effectively record their ideas while planning their final designs and presentations through the #Numbers template. Our Lady of Grace #Sustainability

Our favourite part of the day in 5B is our daily “strength spotting”. Students are assigned the job of looking for strengths in their peers during the day and these are acknowledged each afternoon. #Characterstrength language is now embedded in our everyday! #lifetothefull

After listening to Ryhia Dank explain her inspiration behind the creation of this years NAIDOC poster and exploring the meaning behind this years theme, students loved recreating their own version highlighting the theme “Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!”#NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC

Enjoyed two awesome days at the CEWA Apple Learning Institute learning how to effectively use Apple Education tools to best support student outcomes. I can’t wait to return in 6 weeks with Erica Pizzino to share the results of our shared #keynote infographic goal.

The Year Fives loved coaching their buddies through using #clips to celebrate our inaugural #STEM Day. Students used photos and videos from the day to document the activities and took turns filming their buddies reflecting on their STEM-tastic day! Our Lady of Grace Michelle Lloyd

I love using the #linedraw feature in #keynote to observe student working. The Year 5s had to identify the error in the original division sum, correctly solve the algorithm and record themselves explaining their reasoning. Great for identifying ‘stuck’ students! Our Lady of Grace

The Environmental-Wellbeing Committee were very excited to launch Containers for Change at OLG today. Our goal is to raise money for projects like worm farms and veggie gardens in the school. Plus a bit of healthy competition between houses never hurt anyone! #containersforchange

Enjoyed a lovely meal at the Catholic Education WA staff breakfast. A wonderful way to acknowledge those teachers with 30, 40 and 50 years of service and an opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces. We walked away with many inspiring ideas to bring back to Our Lady of Grace School-North Beach!

Had an exhausting but brilliant day at the Senior Athletics Carnival. Highlights of the day included students congratulating rivals, getting back up after falling during races & cheering friends across the line. Sportsmanship and resilience at its best. So proud of these guys!

Year 5 loved having Daniel F. Kiely join us today. Daniel spoke to the children about what his job as an economist entails, the concept of the invisible hand and played a fun trade game. All in preparation for the running of their very own Farmers Market next week! Claire Dernie
