A Willow Emerald Damselfly visiting my garden pond and landing on my carefully placed stick... or 'dragonfly perch'! It's hard to believe that this species was unknown in Suffolk until 2007, but is now relatively common here - 27th August 2024 Suffolk BIS British Dragonfly Society

The spectacular sight of House Martins 'swarming' around the rooftops at Orford Quay on the Suffolk coast today (28th August 2024), in excited anticipation of their imminent departure... Suffolk Bird Group BTO Suffolk SuffolkWildlifeTrust Brigit Strawbridge

An interesting find from Dunwich Heath today, this unusual but really lovely caterpillar of the Grey Dagger moth, moved (from my hat) to a nearby Rowan tree! Dunwich Heath British Moths SuffolkWildlifeTrust

An increasingly scarce but welcome visitor to my Suffolk garden... a nervous Song Thrush drops in, waits its turn for a bath, and then hangs around for nearly 5 minutes! 28th August 2024 BTO Suffolk SuffolkWildlifeTrust Suffolk Bird Group

I have spent a lot of time in the hides RSPB Minsmere 🌍 but today (30th August 2024) was the first time I have encountered not one but two Adders sharing the hide with me and several visitors! Happily both male and female Adders finally escaped to safety outside the hide... phew!

It must be autumn... thousands of freshly moulted feathers scattered along the shoreline, and a very nice selection of waders on the East Scrape RSPB Minsmere 🌍 including Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Sanderling and LIttle Ringed Plover among many others (30th August 2024)

An everyday example of life and death RSPB Minsmere 🌍 - a female Sparrowhawk flies fast and low along the edge of the Scrapes and suddenly grabs a bunch of reeds, plus an unfortunate Reed Warbler! Video from long range and in poor light 3rd September 2024

Red Admiral butterflies - and bees - 'swarming' all over the Ivy flowers around Orford, Suffolk in very warm sunny conditions today (7th September 2024). I easily counted over 100 Red Admirals but many more were seen in the same area! BC Suffolk Branch Butterfly Conservation πŸ¦‹
