The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed CPS lawyers to make immediate charging decisions where evidence is in place and this is happening. We have deployed extra lawyers and are working around the clock to ensure law and order is maintained, and justice is served.

Two 13-year-olds, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been sentenced for the murder of Shawn Seesahai in a #Wolverhampton park. Today, a court sentenced them to a minimum of eight years and six months in a young offenders' institute as part of a life sentence.

A Derbyshire father and son have been jailed after plotting to kill the owner of a Birmingham shop after a dispute. An accomplice fired the shot – but the gun jammed, allowing an escape. Mohammed Aslam, 56 and Mohammed Nabil Nazir, 30, were sentenced today.

We have authorised West Midlands Police to charge American national Aimee Betro, 45, from Wisconsin following an attempted shooting in Birmingham. She was extradited from Armenia today. She will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. Read more here: orlo.uk/fbL8A
