If you increase the number of prisoners you must increase the number of workers, all the way down the Justice pipeline. Court workers, lawyers, Allied Health Professionals, COs, rehabilitation and reintegration workers

If you’re driving past Unions Tasmania office in nipaluna/Hobart, you’ll see our new banner calling on Jeremy Rockliff to legislate for industrial manslaughter (IM) now. Tasmania is the only state or territory without IM or a commitment to legislate for it

Standing room only to remember the International Workers Memorial Day. Remember, those who have lost their lives, and fight for improvements to safety for all. Those injured, killed or so traumatised by work they take their own lives

Would have been a great day to announce that you will commit to laws. And stop work bullying orders, available to all private sector workers. Both these measures would make workplaces safer

This year's International Workers' Memorial Day recognises the devastating effect the climate crisis has on workers around the world.

We reflect on those who lost their lives at work, and vow to fight for those living.

The company’s not disputing that its Tassie workers are paid 21% less than sister sites on the mainland. There’s no justification for it. Unions Tasmania has been calling out the mainland wage gap as unfair and significantly disadvantaging workers here theadvocate.com.au/story/8601893/

We need to ensure that Tasmanian public sector workers don't fall behind other workers in our state when it comes to newly won rights in Fair Work.

The Tassie public sector is under-resourced, struggling with vacancies and has significant reform to
undertake from dozens of reviews. The last thing they need is American style politics pushing them to deliver outcomes in 100 days, for the election that came a year early.

Work overload - chronic understaffing, lack of management support - are all psychosocial WHS hazards. They injure workers just as surely as a trip or fall hazard would. Employers need to address them as the serious safety risks they are themercury.com.au/truecrimeaustr…
