As part of our activities we talk to the possible caretakers of the pregnant women and New born babies about danger signs to look out for. As we do this we do not destruct the care for their babies.

Our team of caring staff visited a mother who had complications at delivery to check on her and her newborn at her home. Follow up is critical.

We take time to understand the circumstances under which a mother or a newborn died. We want to know the root cause of these deaths so that our interventions to reduce maternal and newborn deaths are effective.

Male involvement is key, if we are to achieve maternal newborn health. This family has lost newborns before and it all rotated around descision making and money. Men should be told about danger signs, antenatal visits and saving for transport to the health facility for delivery

Our VHTs recieve t-shirts to identify with us and a bag to safely carry the materials they need for a successful home visit. VHTs have encouraged women to visit the health facilities for antenatal care and delivery. This has greatly improved in the last 2 years in Luuka District
