#otd in 1936, the Mint Museum opened -- formerly the Assay Office in uptown, the building was remodeled by the WPA and moved from its W. Trade St. to Randolph Road. The opening exhibition notably included a large portrait of Queen Charlotte, painted by Alan Ramsay.
