Work zones present many challenges for trucks and buses – narrow lanes, sudden stops, traffic pattern shifts, and uneven road surfaces require all drivers to stay alert. It’s critical that all road users approach work zones with caution and do their part to keep the roads safe.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), Brake Safety Week is quickly approaching. During the week of August 21-27, 2022, Commercial Vehicle Inspectors will be focusing on brake violations. For more information visit the CVSA at cvsa.org/news/2022-bsw-….

Brake violations like the one in this video can be caught during a thorough pre-trip inspection. This vehicle also had three brakes out of adjustment and three brakes with air loss from the brake chamber while transporting hazardous materials.

Did You know if you are towing a vehicle or driving a motor truck or truck tractor with three or more axles your are restricted to 55 MPH in California? In addition to the lower speed limit, you are also restricted to certain lanes.

Cargo securement is one of the most common hazardous materials violations observed during a commercial vehicle inspection. This is also the most preventable violation. These are just a few examples of securement issues. #chp #phmsa #cohmed #cvsa #catruckingassociation

Even though Commercial Vehicle Section personnel work in the office, they are still required inspect trucks to maintain their certifications to inspect commercial vehicles. These inspections not only help protect the drivers of those trucks but the public who travel around them.
