T3: In conclusion: Although the p-value maybe sig, the fragility index of 1 is notable! Non-shockable rhythm is BAD! Mortality is HIGH! Incidence of fever in the normothermia group MAY have been responsible for increased rate of unfavorable neurologic outcome. #CCJC3

T3: Data from an ANZICS core registry “the average lowest temp of post cardiac arrest pts in the 1st 24 hrs rose after publication of TTM trial; this was associated with an increased frequency of fever (12.8% vs 16.5%). In-hospital mortality increased by 0.6 % points/yr” #CCJC3

T3: Hence, one needs to be cautious when adopting the practice of higher core temperature as it may result in less precise control and possibly higher incidence of fever. #CCJC3

T3: An observational study revealed that the risk of death increases for each degree over 37 C during the first 48 hrs after cardiac arrest (OR 2.26; 95% CI 1.24-4.12). #CCJC3

A freshly minted attending sees a young man with seeming MSK back pain. At discharge, the pt collapses and dies from the true cause of his symptoms- aortic dissection. 13 years later the doc has not forgiven himself and still questions his competence.
