We should not be importing peat, we should not be exporting peat, we should not be burning peat, building on it or digging it up. Peat needs to stay in the ground... everywhere!

Striking that in a wide-ranging speech to open , whose theme is “A more shock-prone world”, Taoiseach Simon Harris TD did not mention the challenge of containing climate breakdown. “The best country in Europe to be a child” is a great goal but that needs a stable climate.

GNI, the gas network operator, is calling to be allowed to connect “islanded” data centres to the gas network, when they can’t connect to the electricity grid.

It’s going to make us burn through our carbon budget ever faster.

Why are GNI not accountable to climate policy?

Our new study provides the first rigorous demonstration that climate models are capable of successfully diagnosing clear-air turbulence and its response to climate change.

In other words, we are very confident climate change is making turbulence worse.

In response to mothers protesting against airport expansion, Dublin Airport said it has plans to cut GHGs by 51%.

But this target only covers ground operations, not flights.

It’s utterly deceptive.

Expanding flights will increase GHG emissions.

In 2017, I read AGU (American Geophysical Union) Luke Storer analysis clear air turbulence was expected to more than double b/w 2050-2080 due to . Starting to feel this may happen faster than forecast given recent awful events Dublin Airport + Singapore .

More ppl would take public transport if it was reliable. The only way to make it more reliable is to prioritise it on the roads over cars.

The argument that we can't make change till we improve public transport is an infinity loop argument.

Wow.

Irish Department of Enterprise officials have told the minister that there isn't enough renewable energy for Ireland's planned data centres up to 2030.

The Climate Change Advisory Council's Climate Change Advisory Council Ireland statutory review of climate action under the climate law used to be one MASSIVE review each year. I'm thrilled we are now releasing individual chapters each month, starting today with Electricity:

The same students and young people organizing for Gaza are the same kinds of people who have the energy, drive, and discipline to do electoral organizing. In some cases, it's literally the same folks. Were there any worthy candidate they'd be organizing for them.

To all those who said protests make no difference: stick this in your pipe and smoke it.

Trinity College Dublin students showed great solidarity with those suffering genocide in Gaza, and made a *real*, concrete difference.

People power works!!

Most people aren't paying attention but we are waging a massive war on ocean life, killing off entire habitats & species at a dizzying pace. The scale of the damage we're doing to the other life on this planet is honestly too much to fit in your heart.
