September means electrofishing surveys🐟! Our biggest Brown trout yet at 329mm found in the Calder. On the river bank, the WRT team ID the fish species and take fork length measurements. No fish are harmed during the survey and all were returned back to river safely.

In Somerset, a giant science experiment to tackle flooding began 10 years ago. Rather than trying to resist the sea, a large tract of land was surrendered to it. Lots of people were opposed. The local MP called it “an extravagant, ridiculous scheme”🧵

Some really interesting learnings from this research we participated in earlier in the year. Lots to put in to practice and help shape landscape recovery through blended finance.
