TED Talks Dear TED Talks: ever wondered how these cell based so called “clean meats” stay clean without having an immune system? Hint: antibiotics. Also, check into energy needs to produce cell based alternatives. Finally, the stem cells needed are extracted from dead bovine fetus. Enjoy!

Brittany Ross spoke on use of triticale for silage in backgrounding diets. Taza and Bunker varieties were used compared to barley silage. Diets were iso-calorimic and iso-nitrogenous. #UnderOneRoof

Weekend was full of brandings, rounding up, and shipping cattle to the community pasture. I’d say that’s a weekend well spent 🐮🐂 #RossBrothersRanch #CdnAg

Haymaking always reminds me of research project completed yrs ago Dept. of Agriculture that I love sharing with students. Researchers cut 1/2 hay field in AM and 1/2 field in PM on same day. Hay then fed in choice test and get consistent preference for PM cut hay by horses, cattle, sheep. Why?

Forage systems project w/ Dr Bart Lardner 🇨🇦 starting up at Livestock & Forage Centre of Excellence! SF6 data collection all week to collect and measure CH4 and CO2 on steers, as well as using a green feed system to collect them. Couldn’t get this done without a great team to help!
