Before I start to go through all my Normandy pictures (I took quite a lot) I figured I would quickly finish off basing some figures. These are the York & Lancs for the Battle of El Teb. Next up will be some Gordon Highlanders - I'd better find some tartan paint...

Launched #OnThisDay 30 March 1824 HMS Unicorn. Ordered in 1817 & built in Chatham. She was never rigged, but during her time she served as a drill vessel in both world wars for the RN Reserve. It is estimated that 200 years later she maintains 90% of her original material!

Trials of a T-34-85 tank with a 100 mm LB-1 gun were completed #OTD in 1945. The gun could still fire but the larger ammunition limited ammo capacity to 30 rounds and was difficult to handle in the turret made for an 85 mm gun. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

#OTD in 1945 a prototype of the SU-101 tank destroyer was presented for trials. This vehicle had a rear fighting compartment and was much more compact and better balanced than the SU-100, but never made it into production. #tanks #History #WW2 #WWII
