Opinion | The attempt to oust Israeli Arab member of Knesset should disturb Netanyahu's opposition haaretz.com/opinion/2025-0…

Hamas won the narrative of what forced Israel out of Gaza. The PA that wanted to negotiate with Israel and coordinate the disengagement was delegitimized by Sharon’s refusal to engage with them. Instead of empowering the moderates Gaza was handed to Hamas. gershonbaskin.substack.com/?utm_source=na…

- All heads of security branches favour ceasefire, say op won’t defeat Hamas. - Likud ministers Sa'ar, Gamliel, Levin (!!) & Amsalem had tough Qs- latter warned of Gaza “being Israel’s Vietnam” Yet operation grinds forward. As does hasbara pretending this is all normal and fine

Thread 👇 on new ALLMEP & Remesh poll showing large majority of Americans (inc MAGA voters)— as well as Israelis & Palestinians— supporting US engagement to achieve ceasefire & two-state/regional peace deal. Highlights also in this The Times of Israel piece timesofisrael.com/most-americans…

Tonight, Yonit Levi will interview Emmanuel Macron on Ch 12. Where he’ll have chance to present NY Declaration— and the benefits it contains— direct to the Israeli people. We at ALLMEP have tested some of those benefits in polls. And it turns out: Israelis like them. 🧵 1/

Importantly, re: POTUS’ comments yesterday, shows the only *14%* of MAGA base think US should support West Bank annexation. By way of comparison, thats lower than support for gun control…

Great scoop from Jacob Magid. US 21-point plan appears to borrow from other blueprints — Blair-Kushner plan, Olmert-al Kidwa 2024 plan, & 🇫🇷 🇸🇦 New York Declaration. Smart move would be to draw on all of above to flesh out, esp NY Declaration having greatest detail and int buy-in

Russia wants Ukraine away from Europe. Russia invades Ukraine twice. Europe aids Ukraine. Russia attacks Europe. Europe turns to Ukraine for help. Vladimir Putin, master strategist.

This can also be synthesised w/ NY Declaration, which has greater depth but much overlap of key points: ceasefire+hostages, Hamas disarmament, int transition gov, aid & recon, int stabilisation force, and path to Pal statehood. Fusing both efforts would create huge int coalition

My lastest on civil society's potential--especially with meaningful funding--to support the emerging diplomatic process euractiv.com/opinion/is-civ…

Excellent piece by ALLMEP’s Brian Reeves on civil society’s central role in Gaza and wider I/P diplomacy: “Civil society stands ready to build the ground game that turns political frameworks into lived reality. It is time for the international community to meet them halfway.”

Big news: UK will host March meeting to launch Int Fund for 🇮🇱🇵🇸 Peace. Allowing scaling of civil society peacebuilding at moment when future is more contested than in living memory. Can help ensure those committed to mutual peace, equality & security write the next I/P chapter..

Reinstating permits for peacebuilders is low-risk, high-impact step aligned w/US, UK & EU policy. Every Israeli–Palestinian peacebuilding encounter *strengthens* mutual security. Neither people is going anywhere- so let them meet to jointly shape future rooted in peace & equality

Elliott Abrams, Trump’s former Venezuela envoy: “The United States cannot run Venezuela…It’s just not going to work.” Says “the worst point” of Trump’s presser was “the insult” of Machado, the opposition leader Is it legal for US to take VZ oil? “No…It’s not our oil.”
