A lot of what is being called coaching is really support, encouragement, or mentoring. Coaching is more; it changes practice. The other stuff is good and makes us ā€œfeelā€ better, but coaching makes us ā€œdoā€ better. If you want your teams to excel, you gotta coach ā€˜em up!

Agree Bill! Honestly, I don’t believe the PLC process will ever reach its full potential until we acknowledge that we have to coach the PLC process. All the research shows teams need coaching in the settings where they work. Unfortunately, our actions do not reflect what we know.
