‼️ As we stand at the intersection of culture, heritage, and identity, we need to urgently address the demand by the indigenous Meiteis for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. This demand encapsulates the need to protect not only our endangered land & environment by drugs & militancy

👉The Meiteis, the indigenous community residing in the compact central valley within the hilly state of Manipur, are seeking constitutional protection for their continued existence.

👉The demand to include the Meitei people in the Scheduled Tribes list is an earnest plea for

The #Meitei community is a distinct and unique group with its own rich culture and heritage. Unlike other communities in Manipur, the Meiteis do not benefit from constitutional protections.

The Multidimensional Poverty Index in 2023 reveals that 8.10% of #Manipur population lives below the poverty line, ranking among the highest in India. This underscores the urgent need for targeted efforts to alleviate poverty and uplift the living standards of the #Meiteis who
