When Starmer tells you he needed to sign away the Chagos Islands for 'national security reasons', remember where that argument comes from

Chagos has been ours since 1814. It hosts a vital military base. Surrendering it to Mauritius is an act of national self-harm. It leaves us more exposed to China, and ignores the will of the Chagossian people. AND WE'RE PAYING BILLIONS TO DO SO!

In the detail of the deal it emerges Starmer has agreed to give the Mauritian government notice of any UK military action launched from Diego Garcia, much of which would be secret This is insane

Next time Labour in Birmingham or anywhere else try and claim they don't have money for anything. Whether it decent homes, fixing roads or cleaner streets etc, remember they did have money to pay for this, so another country could take British territory 👇

Labour run Bham City Council need to wake up to the crisis the strike is causing on the streets of #Birmingham. Listen to calls from Birmingham Conservative Group and relocate refuse trucks to other Council depots so they can get out every day and clear the streets of rats and rubbish.

Meet Philippe Sands KC, the man advising the Mauritian government. He’s also best friends with… Keir Starmer. When did they last meet? Have they ever discussed Chagos? Will British taxpayer's funds be used to pay his legal fees? Keir Starmer needs to urgently clarify.

Labour’s deal to surrender the Chagos Islands to Mauritius is going to cost the British Taxpayer over £30 billion. What’s Starmer really giving up over Chagos? and why does it matter👇

The £210 million Britain will send Mauritius in year one of Starmer's Chagos deal is ~2% of that country's GDP, paid out to secure a base that was already secure from meaningless hostile state lawfare This will go down with Suez as Britain's post-war nadir.

Interesting thread, if not depressing, about the loss of beautiful historic buildings in Birmingham and their (lack of) replacement.

It’s easy to dismiss uncomfortable truths as “racist”. The British establishment often does. Like when emily m interviewed Rupert Lowe MP on grooming gangs. It’s harder to confront the truth. The truth may be uncomfortable but facts cannot be racist. These are the facts: 🧵

Reform promised they would release their 'deportation strategy' in May. May has come and gone, and not a peep from them. Does it have something to do with the fact Nigel Farage is on record saying deporting all illegal immigrants is "impossible" ?

This week, we're fighting the introduction of parking fees in Sutton Park, the Lickey Hills, & Sheldon Country Park car parks today at the Neighbourhoods O&S Committee. Then we'll be at Council Business Management, Cabinet tomorrow and Planning Committee on Thursday.

Today in Parliament, Ed Miliband plans to sneak through legislation to extend Drax’s subsidies for burning trees. That's energy which is twice the price of gas and dirtier than coal. 🧵👇🏾

So much for affordable bus fares... Labour's Mayor of the West Midlands has overseen inflation-busting price hikes of 30% on the cheapest fare available for your daily commute on a WM Bus over the last two years.

Today marks 85 years since the end of the Dunkirk evacuation. Over 338,000 Allied troops were rescued by sea in the largest military evacuation in history. We remember the service and sacrifice of the Second World War generation who secured the freedoms we enjoy today.

They are hoping nobody notices, but Government has just announced a cut to school funding for the poorest children, as well as slashing holiday food entitlement. Let me explain what is really happening 👇
