In an polarized competition for global dominance, 🇮🇳's positioning on various issues will become more important. This is why 🇮🇳's refusal to condemn 🇷🇺's war in 🇺🇦 does not appear to be to its detriment. By not antagonizing 🇷🇺, 🇮🇳 is trying to prevent closer 🇷🇺-🇨🇳-🇵🇰 ties.

8 minutes on why the narrative of the "rules-based order" is much more about the preservation of political power than about stability. (Idealization of the past; different orders and different challengers; problems with the rules themselves.) youtube.com/watch?v=eX04Nt…

My colleague Boas Lieberherr with an excellent take on that "rules-based order" everyone is talking about, Asia Society Switzerland. An order that never really existed, he argues. So the emphasis should not be on defending but on building it.

Advocacy for a rules-based order has come to define various foreign policies. The question is if it can contribute to a common understanding of rules, norms & institutions that should govern international relations, says Boas Lieberherr in his #CSSAnalyses css.ethz.ch/content/dam/et…
