Farmers need our help in adapting to rapidly changing climate conditions and the impact of biodiversity collapse. But the stream of unconditional bailouts only maintains business as usual, I don't see public support for this.

In Kerry's spectacular Black Valley, fencing allowed a wild oak to get above nibble height of the hordes of invasive sika deer.

The fence failed, and all lower leaves were stripped away, leaving just a straight, bare stem. No new trees can grow here.

How to kill an ecosystem.

They've done an entire property and managed a grand total of one plant... The environment is paying for the profit in their pockets. STOP HANDING THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY

After nearly a year of temperature anomalies, there's a very real chance this is permanent and is only going to get worse.

The complexity of systems within systems means that nobody really knows the odds.
