In the Terra Hunting Experiment "we plan to use [a spectrograph]... for the next 10 years to observe a small set of sunlike stars. This should allow us to reach the sensitivities needed to find an Earth analog." Megan Bedell, @FlatironCCA astronomer ow.ly/vbtC50KO7bB
I had such a great time talking to Sean Carroll in this podcast, podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sea…, Check it out if you love black holes of all sizes, and their gravitational waves!
Want to join a research team that will measure the 3D motion of the Local Interstellar Medium for the first time? Understand our path through the Galaxy? Last week to apply for a European Research Council (ERC) 5-year PostDoc position at Universität Wien jobregister.aas.org/ad/383ef264
Christoph Federrath, blakesley burkhart and Philip Mocz, tell us that there is a critical density where gas becomes Jean’s unstable and collapses under its own self-gravity, forming a set of initial conditions for star formation. Tracking these dense regions in space and time therefore
We congratulate Carleton Science alumna Dr. Chiara Mingarelli Dr Chiara Mingarelli on the wonderful news that she is the American Astronomical Society (AAS)'s 2023 Early Career Prize winner for her accomplishments in High Energy Astrophysics! 🏆👏 #WomenInSTEM #SuccessStory head.aas.org/awards/earlyca…
Excited to announce that I have accepted a 4-year joint postdoctoral fellowship split between @FlatironCCA and Rutgers SAS Mathematical & Physical Sciences (MPS), working primarily with blakesley burkhart and Rachel Somerville on a multiscale picture of star formation regulated by feedback from massive stars and AGN.
So proud of Monica Gallegos-Garcia for this well-deserved honor! You make the CIERA community and our field a more inclusive, innovative and thoughtful place.
Awesome talk by blakesley burkhart about observing the H2 dissociation front directly in H2 fluorescence with a potential UV probe called EOS. A dream for PDR studies! #olympian2023
