House Natural Resources subcommittee reports out Leader Charniele Herring bill to require Virginia rejoin RGGI. RGGI provides hundreds of millions of dollars to Virginia for energy efficiency programs and critical flood preparedness.

Virginia was illegally taken out of the RGGI by the previous administration. Today, we took the first step to rectify that by passing HB 397 out of subcommittee clarifying Virginia’s participation in the program that we should have always been in.

American voters oppose the construction of data centers by a margin of more than 3:1, new polling finds. Voters identified utility costs and energy consumption as top concerns regarding the impacts of data centers.

The legislature requires a lot more than just “session” from the legislators. They must participate in commission and committee meetings off-session. They are expected to engage with their constituents during the off session. Session prep usually begins late summer/fall. #VALeg

Google's new Minnesota data center is getting an iron-air battery, which can store orders of magnitude more energy than any grid-scale battery we've seen (30 GWh in this case). If this pans out, we may have found the solution to turning solar & wind into reliable baseload power.
