A month ago, I was installed as Bishop of Birmingham. Sadly, my desire to meet the people of the diocese is taking a more measured pace due to the coronavirus. Please know I look forward to our journeying together and discovering what He has in store. God bless! Diocese of Birmingham

I just finished celebrating Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul. At the end of Mass, there was a shower of rose petals in honor of Our Lady of the Snows. May the Blessed Mother continue to care for us in this time of pandemic!

It was my honor to celebrate the annual Diocesan Blue Mass at Our Lady, Queen of the Universe in B'ham last night. The Mass is celebrated for those employed in the field of public safety. A special thanks to Bhampolice Chief Patrick Smith and State Sen. Linda Coleman-Madison.

In response to yesterday's media coverage, it appears the Pope was in no way aiming to change Church teaching about human sexuality and marriage, but instead was offering his prudential judgment on matters of public policy. Full statement is available at bhmdiocese.org.

I celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul today commemorating diocesan priests who have fallen asleep in the hope of resurrection. I also blessed the graves of three past Bishops of Birmingham. May all their souls rest in peace. #Catholic #RIP

Back in my home state of Michigan, I would drive many rural roads and see Christmas barn stars seemingly guiding my way...that memory was the origin of the "Come, let us adore Him" project as part of the Year of the Parish and the Eucharist. #Followthestar2020

This Friday, the Diocese of Birmingham will mark the Solemnity of St. Joseph at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Canon Law indicates that Friday penance is not required when a Solemnity falls on a Friday (canon 1251). All Catholics may enjoy meat in his honor that day!

A beautiful start to Holy Week at the Cathedral of St. Paul today. Holy Week liturgies will be live-streamed on the diocesan Facebook page as well as the diocesan website, bhmdiocese.org. May we move toward the fullness of life Christ won for us through His resurrection.
