Coral bleaching has negative impacts on reef fish, that either have to change what they eat, or sometimes modify their behaviour.
So the bleaching has effects on the whole ecosystem, not just the coral

Professor, with years working on reefs: every part of the reef system had now bleached at least once since 1998. Some reefs had bleached three or four times. He said the cumulative damage made it harder for reefs to recover and more likely they would succumb.
