The limited non-flood thoughts I was able to have today produced this playlist. Just a small stream... open.spotify.com/playlist/7ygWc…

Well put by the remote sensing poet. The need for a diverse EO toolbox is especially obvious when it comes to the strange, unique and widespread phenomenon of flooding.

Another view of Cypress Lakes, FL shows the widespread flooding from extreme storm surge and rainfall. We will continue to monitor and map the flooding from Hurricane Ian for our customers and humanitarian aid partners.

Global warming has put an extra 300m people at risk of floods. It’s an emergency. It’s also a generational opportunity in risk markets. Now @Floodbase enables the world's top insurers to offer coverage to people and places that were once uninsurable. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Bessie Schwarz and I had a great conversation with Aravind 🌍 🛰 on how Floodbase powers flood parametric insurance. Personally, I love every opportunity to speak about technology that finally makes parametric flood insurance possible using satellites (but not just satellites) !

Proud to have our flood maps featured in The New York Times this weekend. As noted in the story, the Tulare Lake flooding is so big that it is best tracked by satellites. We'll see much more of this kind of flooding in the coming years.

This is the promise of parametric insurance. Not just fast payouts in the wake of disaster, but opening the door to markets traditional models shut out. More flooding is inevitable, how we respond is a choice. Floodbase is cooking up so much goodness. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
