A child was deemed “fit for adoption” by the Child Specialist visiting #Bessboro Nursery. No idea what credentials the unidentified person had but the outcome - a baby girl of just over 7 weeks was placed with family + suffered sexual abuse 💔

1/5 I don’t know how many times I’ve read Commission Reports #MotherAndBabyHomes but often I see something I can challenge which does not match with testimony of victim survivor - in this case burial of babies

This will be our 10th Anniversary gathering together to remember the Women/girls & the children that died in #Bessboro or later in hospital. The Government have not acted on our constant requests to investigate the grounds for burials.The loss is immeasurable. Support if you can.

William was 1 of 923 children to die that were born in Bessboro. There are no burial records for the majority of them. To this day the authorities haven’t carried out a thorough investigation that could put some light on the situation but they didn’t care 5/8

21 years after being refused permission to lay a memorial plaque on the ground in #Bessboro for her child, Carmel’s Mum Bridget Breathnach did it anyway. The Sisters at Bessboro which closed 26 years ago this year cannot say where 859 babies are buried. Impossible to process that 💔

It was Easter 4 years ago that my mother discovered from reading the MBHCOI 5th Interim Report that her baby had been buried in #CarrsHill Cemetery. A letter that should have been given to her 25 years earlier. #MotherAndBabyHomes #Bessboro 1/8
