Chung, MD Worthwhile to dispel some myths about the TEAMS trial. 1st, the “usual care” arm had an exceptional level of ICU mobility: >70% of pts evaluated by PT on day 1, 20% ambulated within 1 week. 2nd, the adverse effects were mostly tachycardia. There were 0 falls, extubations, etc.

Chung, MD This patient could have maximum ventilator settings and still not have an indication for sedation and immobility. Mechanical ventilation does not automatically mean sedated and immobilized. Awake and walking does not mean there is no indication for ventilator support.
